Wollongong University is one of Australian's largest universities, boasting over 18,000 students. The university has 9 different car-parks, most with multiple levels/sections within each car-park.
Holman Engineering supplied and installed a Parking Guidance system to advise students and staff of the number of spaces available in each of the sections of the car parks. The Holman system has achieved accuracy in vehicle movements of up to 99%. The system efficiently directs traffic to the most readily accessible locations reducing emissions, and maximising utility of available parking lots. The Holman system provides information in real-time to the University's Parking Live Feed : https://campuses.uq.edu.au/information-and-services/parking-transport/parking/st-lucia-live-feed The system consists of over 40 LED displays and 29 loops detectors which monitor car movements throughout the car-park. The data is collected using Holman Engineering's specifically developed Node points. These Nodes allow both the collection of data and the driving of the electronic signs. The system logs and stores data locally with the data being collated on a central database which allows for in depth analysis.
